If Obama wants simpler regulations; start with sign permits

Why does it take approvals from so many unelected government agencies to get a simple sign permit?  Why should a small business need to wait six months for sign off of a dozen agencies for a run of the mill new sign or change to an existing sign?

As suppliers to sign shops across North America we don’t apply for permits ourselves but support many companies that do and we hear plenty of horror stories.  When you consider that the US Small Business Administration is a very strong advocate for good signage it is curious that government is the biggest roadblock in buying good signs.

Are our observations correct?  Anyone wanting to share their experiences is welcome to post a comment.
